JOINT FINANCIAL SECTOR REGULATORS (JFSR) CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP HELD FROM 17TH TO 19TH JUNE 2026
Following the 16th Joint Financial Sector Regulators (JFSR) Board Meeting held on 7th November 2025, the Board resolved that the Corporation should strengthen the capacity of JFSR members on the implementation of the proposed Trust Accounts Guidelines. This initiative aims to enhance depositor protection and contribute to overall financial sector stability.
In response, the Corporation conducted a capacity building workshop for regulators and financial safety net institutions. The workshop focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of trust account structures and protection mechanisms, resolution planning and crisis management, information sharing, institutional mandates and coordination frameworks, as well as compliance with relevant standards, international best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Key outcomes from the workshop highlighted the increasing interconnectedness of the financial sector and the need for institutions to move away from working in isolation. Members emphasized the importance of strengthened coordination, collaboration, and timely information sharing among financial sector players to effectively safeguard depositors and promote financial system stability.
Institutions present included Central Bank of Kenya, Capital Markets Authority, Insurance Regulatory Authority, Retirement Benefits Authority, Policyholders Compensation Fund and Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority
